Don Gribble is a partner in the firm of Hite, Fanning & Honeyman L.L.P. He is an experienced trial lawyer and focuses his practice on:

  • Medical malpractice defense
  • Legal malpractice defense
  • Personal injury defense
  • Mediation

He routinely handles multi-million dollar claims and has primary responsibility for several of the firm’s largest clients.  Don has been involved in more than 50 jury trials and has handled multiple appellate matters establishing significant precedent in Kansas law.  He is admitted to practice in the Kansas state courts and the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas.

Don is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.  He  has been listed in Chambers U.S.A., an independent guide to leading business lawyers, and has received an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating in the distinguished legal directory, Martindale-Hubbell®.*  He has also been selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers®, 2009-2018 Editions and the Best Lawyers in Kansas®, 2012-2019.

Personal Injury Defense. In his personal injury defense practice, Don represents individuals/businesses in a variety of personal injury matters, ranging from agricultural pursuits to the trucking industry.

His experience with general personal injury matters ranges from situations such as a farmer being sued by an employee seriously injured while working with an implement, to a trucker being claimed to have been driving too fast or too fatigued which lead to an accident. 

Medical Malpractice. Don’s experience in the medical malpractice area has involved a wide range of situations, such as:

  • A physician being sued for a claimed misdiagnosis
  • A nurse/doctor being accused of negligently causing a birth injury
  • Hospital care providers being blamed for a poor surgical outcome or a patient succumbing to an illness

Don keeps abreast of current issues involving the health care, agricultural, automobile, trucking and insurance industries and fully understands the unique daily challenges his clients face. He frequently lectures to the health care and insurance professions on medical/legal and insurance/legal issues, and is a sought-after speaker. 

He is a member of the Wichita, Kansas and American Bar associations.  Don is also a member of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Kansas Hospital Attorneys Association.

Being active in his community is of great importance to Don, and he has been a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters for several years, helping to make a positive impact on the lives of children and empowering them to succeed.  His pro bono activity includes representing the church of which he is a member in any legal matters that may arise.

Don received both his B.A., with honors, and his J.D. from the University of Kansas. He joined Hite, Fanning & Honeyman L.L.P. in 1984 and has served on the firm’s Ethics Committee and as the Recruiting Coordinator.  He is an avid outdoorsman, having been involved in running marathons, hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail, hunting, fishing and camping.

On September 21, a Sumner County judge issued a ruling in a zoning appeal case that blocks the construction of a proposed wind farm in northern Sumner County.
