Jennifer devotes a significant portion of her practice to helping clients navigate the complicated areas of family law and domestic relations. With over 15 years of experience representing individuals during very difficult times, Jennifer maintains a strong focus on the needs of her clients and how to best resolve issues with their children’s best interests in mind. She has been selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® - Rising Stars 2010 Edition.
Jennifer has a straightforward approach, saving her clients’ time and money in navigating their cases. She is an aggressive litigator as well as a skilled mediator and negotiator. She was a case manager for a Crisis Center in Manhattan, Kansas, providing her with experience in resolving conflict in difficult situations.
She has extensive experience representing clients in divorce proceedings and is skilled at handling related issues such as:
Jennifer is also experienced in those extreme situations where she protects her client by obtaining court orders for Protection from Stalking (PFS) or Protection from Abuse or, in the alternative, defending her clients in these matters.
When children are impacted by the dissolution of marriage or a relationship, Jennifer counsels clients through difficult child custody situations and in determining child support and parenting time guidelines. She also assists families in navigating the domestic adoption process and has worked with numerous clients on stepparent adoptions as well.
She is admitted to practice in Kansas state and federal courts, has argued cases before the Kansas Court of Appeals and prepared appellate briefs at the federal level. Jennifer is a member of the Wichita, Kansas and American Bar associations, as well as the Wichita Women Attorneys Association. She is also a member and secretary of the Kansas Bar Association’s (KBA) Family Law Section, and is active with the Family Law Section of the Wichita Bar Association. She served as president of the Wichita Women Attorneys Association from 2009-2010. Jennifer is a frequent speaker on family law topics at CLE seminars.
Jennifer received her B.A. in social work from Kansas State University (KSU) and also received an M.A. in criminal justice from Wichita State University. She went on to Washburn Law School, where she obtained her J.D. and was on the Dean’s List. Jennifer joined Hite, Fanning & Honeyman L.L.P. in 2005.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
